Record Bus Data

To start recording USB traffic once the appropriate Recording Options have been set, follow these steps.

NOTE: If you have inserted any event triggers, select Event Trigger under the General tab in the Recording Options dialog box.

  1. Select Start under Record on the Menu Bar, or click att_7_for_336200400.png on the toolbar. Your recording session will continue until it has finished naturally.

  2. To stop manually, click att_8_for_336200400.png on the toolbar, or select Stop under Record on the Menu Bar.

NOTE: The manual Stop Recording feature is primarily for use when recording low-speed traffic, which can take a long time to fill the recording buffer.

  1. You can click att_9_for_336200400.png again during the upload to upload only a portion of the recorded memory.

NOTE: Disconnection of USB or Ethernet during capture or uploading of trace data is not supported, and may cause the software to malfunction or crash.

When the recording session is finished, the bus traffic is saved to the hard drive as a file named data.usb or whatever name you assign as the default filename.

To save a current recording for future reference:

  1. Select Save As under File on the Menu Bar, or click att_10_for_336200400.png on the toolbar. You see the standard Save As screen.

  2. Give the recording a unique name and save it to the appropriate directory.
