Start, Stop, or Repeat Traffic Generation

Start

To start traffic generation, click att_1_for_337022505.png on the Tool Bar. This first parses the .utg file and downloads the resulting binary generation file to the Voyager. Since the memory is limited, it also checks to see if generator memory space is wasted by excessive numbers of empty frames, where no traffic occurs between Start-Of-Frame packets. If this is found, a dialog will notify you of it so you can edit the .utg file and fix it. See “empty_frames” key explanation elsewhere in this chapter.

Stop

To instruct the analyzer to halt traffic generation, click att_1_for_337022514.png on the toolbar.

Repeat

  1. To repeat a generation session, press the Traffic Generation Start/ Stop att_3_for_337088338.png button again. There is no need to reload the .utg file.

  2. To make an additional entry in a Generator Text File that allows you to specify a portion of the file for repetition, enter wrap=here in the Generator Text File.

The traffic above the entry is run only once. The traffic below the entry is repeated continuously.

NOTE: For a usage example, see the sample file FS_Enum_Break_Wrap_Sample.utg.
