Test Specifications

The USBCV and all the latest USB-IF test specifications can be downloaded here: https://usb.org/documents

Only tests defined in the specifications listed below are official for use in USB-IF compliance testing. This is denoted with ‘USBIF’ and ‘VESA’ designations in the Workspace.

USB 3.1 Link Layer Test Specification

USB 3.1 SuperSpeed Hub LVS Test Specification

USB Type-C Functional Test Specification

USB Power Delivery Compliance Test Specification

VESA DisplayPort Alt Mode on USB Type-C 2.1 Compliance Test Specification

Information on the supported CTS version is included in the HTML report generated upon the completion of testing. For each test specification, we implement toward the latest draft provided by the USB-IF or VESA. Sometimes the version number is not incremented in drafts, so the document date may also be listed.

All other tests are provided “as is” and are for informational use only. They may test against an older specification revision or simply demonstrate a test case we found interesting. They are intended for experimental use by our customers, who are encouraged to modify them to learn more about their product’s behavior. In their current state, they require modifications to work with certain devices or hosts. Vendors should utilize the USB-IF's USBCV software for verifying Chapter 9 assertions, as it is the only certified tool for validating Framework compliance.

The following specifications were previously supported, but are now considered obsolete:
